Growth and Connection

When I woke up this morning I thought, “Awww, I definitely didn’t get enough sleep.” I took a fast shower and got dressed thinking, “Pfff, I don’t do enough sports.” On my way to the office I quickly replied to a friend’s message wondering, “Uhh, did I pay enough attention; did I send enough love?” At night I come home from work fearing “I haven’t done enough.” And I could endlessly go on with this ridiculously painful list.

In a culture of scarcity, as the brilliant research professor Brené Brown names it, we are obsessed with being rich enough, beautiful enough, strong enough, or smart enough. And our fear of never being extraordinary enough makes us feel disconnected.

Growth and connection are two fundamental experiences of every human being and pursued at any age. So if growth is unfortunately misinterpreted these days with becoming the best, let’s focus on connection and look at what the awesome team of SoulPancake came up with.

Think of the last time you looked into the eyes of someone for longer than a couple of seconds. Have you actually ever done that? Don’t wait! Drop everything, take a deep breath and get connected! And suddenly it is just enough. Happy Monday, folks!

And tomorrow? …I will grow and connect.
